Buffalo's Top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program
In all of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at WNY Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness, our coaches teach participants techniques and positions with precise accuracy — so not only will you learn proper self-defense, but you’ll also master ground grappling, counters, escapes, take-downs, and finishing techniques. We offer top tier BJJ training in the Buffalo region!
BJJ for Self-defense
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is known as the “Gentle Art,” teaching that—with the right techniques—a smaller or weaker person can defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant. Over 90% of all street fights finish on the ground. So, ground-fighting skills are essential when it comes to self-defense. Our classes offer you a wide variety of options from standing, as well as from the ground.
BJJ for Sport
In addition to self-defense, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a dynamic and exciting sport with opportunities locally and around the world to compete against other grapplers. You can choose to compete in the Gi (the BJJ uniform), in No-Gi Submission Grappling, or in both divisions. Whatever your sport or competition related goals, the instructors at WNY MMA and Fitness—including our three black belts—will teach you effective techniques that combine traditional and cutting edge modern approaches to Jiu Jitsu.

BJJ in Everyday Life
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not only fun to learn but incredibly practical as well. Whether you’re a social worker, a nurse, or just out at the bar with friends, there are times when you need to get someone physically under control without hurting them, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu offers you countless ways to do this. Conversely, if someone is attacking you and physically threatening you, there are simple and highly effective ways to respond to debilitate them and escape.
